Who We Are

Our website address is https://nppss.com. Nonprofit Professional Services (NPPSS) is a financial services firm founded by Tom Ligare, CLU®, CAP®, serving nonprofit executives, donors, and the professionals who advise them. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle the information you share with us when you visit our website, submit a form, schedule a call, or otherwise interact with our services.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you fill out a contact form, schedule a call, sign up for our newsletter, or communicate with us by email, phone, or text message. This typically includes:

  • Name and contact information (email address, phone number, mailing address)
  • Professional role, organization, and the nature of your inquiry
  • Any additional details you choose to share with us

We also automatically collect certain technical information when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site. This helps us understand how our site is used and improve it over time.

SMS & Text Messaging

When you provide your phone number and consent to receive text messages from NPPSS, you may receive appointment reminders, follow-up messages, meeting confirmations, and occasional updates related to services you’ve inquired about.

SMS Terms & Conditions

Consent: By providing your phone number and opting in, you expressly consent to receive text messages from NPPSS at the number you provided. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your interaction with us. You may receive messages related to scheduling, follow-ups, or service updates.

Opt-Out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive one final confirmation message, and no further texts will be sent.

Help: Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us directly at [email protected] or (805) 689-3483.

Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information you provide to us are subject to the data protections described in this policy. Information you share with NPPSS for the purpose of receiving text messages will not be shared, sold, or transferred to third parties for their independent marketing use.

The limited circumstances in which we may share phone number information are described in the “Who We Share Data With” section below — for example, with the SMS service provider we use to deliver messages on our behalf, or when required by law.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who We Share Your Data With

We share your information only in the limited circumstances described below:

  • Service providers who help us operate our business (for example, our CRM, email platform, SMS delivery service, calendar booking platform, and website hosting provider). These providers are contractually required to handle your information securely and only use it to provide services to us.
  • Professional collaborators such as your CPA, attorney, or financial advisor — but only with your explicit permission and in connection with a service we are providing to you.
  • Legal compliance if we are required to disclose information by law, subpoena, or regulatory request, or to protect our legal rights.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Client and inquiry records are retained as long as you remain a client or prospect, and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping, compliance, and tax purposes.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You may also:

  • Unsubscribe from email communications at any time using the link in any marketing email
  • Opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP to any text
  • Request a correction or update to information we hold about you
  • Contact us directly to discuss any privacy concern or request

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Your information is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider and the third-party service providers described above, which may be located in the United States or other countries.
